Ethiopian Young Academy of Sciences (EtYAS) was established in 2015 with the initiation and financing of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences (EAS). Since its inception, EtYAS has identified and embraced vibrant Ethiopian young academicians and scholars. EtYAS coordinates members’ talent, innovation, resources, and potential to have maximum impact in science creation, dissemination, and utilization. As a developing country, there are certainly wide areas of the field where EtYAS will make contributions. So far, EtYAS has 55 members in three cohorts. The 2023 cohort constitutes 14 members and their short bios are presented as follows.
EtYAS was established in 2015 with the objectives to identify, bring together and support the very best young scientists/scholars to champion excellence and innovation in national scientific research and to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and representation among young scientists in Ethiopia. EtYAS will also represent the voice of young scientists in national and international scientific venues and serve as a bridge between young and senior scientists in the country.

The vision of EtYAS is to be a pathway to aspiring young scientists.
Mission
The purpose of EtYAS is to identify, nurture and network young scientists in a way to foster science culture in Ethiopia.

EtYAS values are aligned with declaration on the guiding principles of young academies[1] developed by the Global Young Academy of Sciences (GYAS) where EtYAS participated in the development process. These guiding principles are:
